Inquiry: Public Use of 100 HaMeisadim Street – Steps to Improve Accessibility
We have recently learned from various publications that the Youth Department will hold recreational activities for youth at 100 HaMeisadim (the former Ya’avetz School). This is a welcome and important initiative.
At the Council meeting on December 7, 2021, the Council plenary approved Budget Resolution No. 2142 in the amount of 1.1 million NIS for the conversion of the old Ya’avetz educational building into a public building. The previous City Council attached great importance to making the building accessible in light of its anticipated additional uses. As follows:

To make the building accessible, a budget was planned and approved for the installation of an accessible elevator serving all floors of the building (the building is constructed with half-floors). As is known, the relocation of the Nili School to the building for one year in the summer of 2023 delayed the installation of the elevator.
In light of the youth program’s move to the building, the following inquiry is submitted:
- What is the timeline for completing the building permit and installing an elevator that will make the building accessible?
- What additional public uses will there be in this building?
Sincerely
Dr. Limor Zar Gutman, Esq.
