Motion for the Agenda—The Council Plenary supports and recommends that the Council Chairman join the mayors who signed the local government letter

The overwhelming majority of the public demands the return of all the hostages—both the living and the fallen. One need only witness the joy that erupts among the people every time a hostage returns home to understand how vital the mission of ransoming captives and saving lives is to the people of Israel across the entire political spectrum.

On February 27, 2025, the Local Government Center initiated and sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling on him to “continue to act without delay in every possible way to bring all the hostages home.”

The letter was signed by a number of mayors and local council heads, including those affiliated with the Likud party, demonstrating that this is not a politically contentious issue.

The letter is attached as an appendix to this proposal.

I do not know why the council head’s name is missing from this letter. Perhaps by mistake, as I know that the issue of bringing the hostages home is important to him and that he is in close contact with the Hostage Headquarters here in Zichron Ya’acov. The council plenary cannot compel the council head to sign the initiative, so we will content ourselves with calling on and requesting that the council head add his signature to the letter at a later date.

For this reason, I ask the council members to vote in favor of the following motion:

We, the council members, express our support for the mayors’ letter to the Prime Minister and ask the council head to consider adding his signature to the letter. So that it is known that the leader of the residents of Zichron Yaakov also asks the government to do everything in its power to bring back all the hostages—down to the very last one.
